Our Story
It all started with a road trip and a simple question—why do we pass so many places without ever knowing their stories?
When Sara and Jón Orri first met, they discovered a shared frustration: how little we actually learn about the places we visit.
It happened on hikes, road trips, and even the daily commute between home and work. They kept wondering—what’s that mountain called? What happened here? And why isn’t there an easy way to find out without juggling guidebooks or Googling mid-drive?
So, together with a great team of like-minded professionals and incredible support from Iceland’s travel and entrepreneur community, they decided to build Guyde—a tour guide app designed for self-guided travel.
Just a few months in, the Guyde team secured its first grant and joined a startup accelerator. Suddenly, this "simple" idea is on the road to reality.
